This month at Eat, Drink & B-Indie, join ATLFS for a moderated discussion with Ruckus & Lane Skye alongside the Head of Production and B8 Services at Buffalo 8, Adam Harris Engelhard. They will be discussing the ins and outs of working for a wide array of companies, including an agency, a studio, and a high-volume production company, as well as what it’s really like to run a literary management firm. How do aspiring writers stand out and connect with top-tier talent to read their scripts? What does a producer need to do to protect themselves? How do films realistically get made in the marketplace and not as a labor of love? What common mistakes do first-time filmmakers make? How does one play the long game and not rush to find representation? Come for insight into these burning questions and more!

Ruckus & Lane Skye are the husband/wife writing and directing team behind the Appalachian thriller The Devil To Pay starring Danielle Deadwyler. Having spent the last ten years as professional screenwriters, they also wrote the home-invasion thriller Becky starring Kevin James, Joel McHale, and Lulu Wilson, which opened #1 at the domestic box office and was an official selection of Tribeca 2020.

Adam Harris Engelhard is an Atlanta-based film producer & former literary manager with over 10 years of industry experience. Starting his career at ICM Partners, Adam worked in the MP Talent department, where he cut his teeth in film packaging. From there, Adam worked for Academy Award® winning producer Dan Jinks at CBS Studios. In 2016, he founded Mailroom Entertainment, where he managed a roster of 15 budding writers and directors.
