Film Synopsis

Girlfight is a 2000 American sports film written and directed by Karyn Kusama in her feature directorial debut. Starring Michelle Rodriguez in her film debut, it follows a troubled Brooklyn high school student who decides to channel her aggression by training to become a boxer, despite the disapproval of her father and prospective trainers, as well as the competitors in the male-dominated sport.

About ¡CineMás!

Presented by the Atlanta Film Society, ¡CineMás! highlights films and filmmakers from Latin America. The inspiration for ¡Cinemás! is the Latin American Film Festival that enjoyed a 25-year run at the High Museum, programmed by the late Media Arts Curator, Linda Dubler. In this spirit, ATLFS is pleased to continue this tradition, presenting award-winning Latin American cinema through ¡CineMás! each fall. The mission of ¡CineMás! is to create visibility for Latino films in front of a large audience and support the increasing necessity of Latino representation in film.
