ATLFS Launches New Mavericks Artillery

Presented by the Atlanta Film Society, the New Mavericks program is a year-round initiative that serves to celebrate, engage and equip female filmmakers in the Atlanta area and beyond. From monthly meetups and networking invitations to an annual film series and visibility support for upcoming projects, the New Mavericks community remains committed to female-centric stories from female filmmakers above or below the line.

ATLFS is proud to present a new layer of the New Mavericks program—one that extends specific opportunities, resources and incentives to New Mavericks specifically. Seeking to pair members with beneficial channels or assets, the New Mavericks Artillery will act as on online resource bank.

"As we continue to elevate our New Mavericks initiative, we are more determined than ever to equip women with the resources and tools necessary to succeed in an industry that often works against them. The New Mavericks Artillery will showcase opportunities that focus on professional filmmaking development for women and encourage New Mavericks to explore their craft," said Kristy Breneman, ATLFS Creative Director.

The first opportunity presented by New Mavericks Artillery is one (1) complimentary seat in a four-day SCADFILM screenwriting masterclass: The Secrets to a Strong First Draft with Oscar Nominated Writer, Kim Krizan. Appropriate for beginners and experienced writers alike, this intensive (a $299 value) will empower the selected New Maverick to learn essential tools for writing a strong, professional screenplay. Interested New Mavericks must complete the online application by 5pm Wednesday, August 17th. The selected recipient will be notified via email by Friday, August 19th.
