Submit Your Airport Short 4.0 Proposal

The Atlanta Film Festival Programming Team would like to officially invite you to craft a proposal for a silent, visually arresting cinematic piece made exclusively for the 1080x1920 vertical screens on display throughout the International Terminal. This call is open to any filmmaker in the state of Georgia.

Filmmakers will be given 3 months to execute their chosen pieces. A $1000 honorarium will be awarded to each participating filmmaker. Collectively, the films will be unveiled at the International Terminal the week of the 2017 Atlanta Film Festival and the films will be Official Selections.

  • Your written proposal should be between 250 and 400 words.

  • Your proposal should be as transparent as possible. We should be able to gauge your concept development and objectives. The Airport Art Program prefers final selections that reflect an excitement or intrigue regarding movement, exploration, and travel.

  • A reel, links to your films, or a tangible representation of your work must be included. An understanding of your film experience is imperative.

FILM REQUIREMENTS (no exceptions will be made)

  • Films must be 5-8 minutes long. This run time includes credits which should be 15 seconds or less. Keep in mind that the title of the piece and the name of the filmmaker will be at the bottom of the screen for it’s entirety.

  • Films must be silent. Subtitles will be taken into consideration but they should not by any means sustain the narrative. The film should be able to communicate without them.

  • Films must be PG. The screens are freely available for viewing throughout the terminal so the basics apply: no nudity nor violence. These films are intended to be a source of pleasure, curiosity, awe, wonderment, etc. for passengers bound for international flights. Your goal is to offer a reprieve from the advertisements that pervade the space.

Please review existing Airport Shorts TRIPTYCH, created by Micah Stansell, IS NOT SEEMS, created by Deon Kay, and RETURN FLIGHT, created by Marisa Ginger Tontaveetong, as examples of successful past proposals.

You must be a Georgia-based filmmaker to qualify for selection.
Apply before 12:00PM on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 for consideration.
